A letter to my Teenage Self

Hey girl hey! It’s me, your future self. I just wanted to tell you some things that will help you right now. So, I know you feel the weight of the world on your shoulders. Don’t worry, you will catch a break. Now I’m not saying everything is perfect or that there aren’t pitfalls but what you are going through is so so necessary. Here are three pieces of advice for you!

First, I advise you to look at yourself in the mirror. You were specially made. You are limited edition. Work with what you got, and love yourself. All those things you criticize and hate about yourself will not exist or matter at 21. Listen to your mother. Your body is still changing. Be patient and do not rush to meet a standard that you wouldn’t naturally set for yourself. Love and respect yourself. Know your worth.

Second, protect yourself. Do not let people walk over you. It is okay to say NO. You are the most important, and no one knows you more than you do. Do not let people tell you who you are, because they don’t matter. You have ambition, you are strong, and you are smart. The world will be yours if use your strengths. The people who say that your dreams are impossible, let that motivate you, because it won’t stop. The older you get the more doubt you will receive, that is your fuel. Keep pushing.

Third, pace yourself. You are doing very well fool. You will accomplish a lot more and be glad you took your time to grow. Be your authentic self and the right people will gravitate towards you. You will gain a beautiful support system who allows you to grow and experience life safely, but you have to be yourself. “Never dull your shine for somebody else” Tyra Tyra Banks, y’all!

Honestly, you can set yourself up for success. You need to believe in yourself and respect yourself. Get good grades, stay away from boys, and eat lunch.
